Who We Are
Durante Furniture is a second-generation custom manufacturer with over
60 years of experience in building products that are finely crafted, exceptionally comfortable and aesthetically alluring.
Our story begins in 1955 in Giavera Del Montello, Italy, in the province of Treviso. Roy Durante’s father, Tony, his two brothers, and his sister immigrated to Canada in search of work and a better life. Upon beginning life in Canada, they discovered the custom furniture trade and the beauty behind creating pieces for premium corporate clients. This discovery brought forth a job opportunity, and they worked for five years in the well-respected factory of Cyril G. Burch.
In 1960, Scali/Durante Furniture Ltd. was born, creating the finest commercial and hospitality furniture manufacturing company for premium offices and hotels throughout Western Canada. All four Durante siblings worked relentlessly to build an undeniable reputation and created some of the finest custom seating and case goods produced in the 20th century. The furniture built continues to offer its clients superb value, while still being used in the same work environment they were built for - over half a century later.
During this period, multiple other Durante family members joined Scali/Durante to produce a second generation of family builders and continue their demanding tradition.
In 1991, Karey Durante, with her newly-achieved Interior Design degree in hand, and Roy Durante, with over a decade of premium furniture manufacturing experience, joined forces and Durante Furniture was born. They entered the market with a very clear goal - to create the finest custom furniture manufacturing brand in Western Canada.
Both Roy and Karey were exposed to family-run businesses in their developmental years and truly understand the value of an intense work ethic. Together, they focused their efforts, producing pieces such as heirloom-quality seating and case goods, to working in spaces such as premium residences and motor yachts all around the globe. Their repertoire grew greater and more refined, which continues to fill them with tremendous pride years later.
Today, Durante Furniture produces fine furniture that resides in some of the most renowned yachts and influential properties of our time around the world. We’ve produced custom furniture for over 94 luxury motor yachts, which is a true testament to our commitment to excellence.
Durante Furniture now encompasses a third generation - Roy and Karey’s son, Brayden. He has been learning the business from the ground up for the last 5 years, and deeply understands that what goes into building exquisite furniture is not left up to chance.
What began as a family immigrating to Canada in search of a better and more promising life - with just suitcases in-hand - has led to a half-century legacy of building luxurious and generational fine furniture.

We work with architects, designers, owners and builders on private residential, corporate and yacht projects internationally.
The majority of our furniture is custom, but we also produce our own originally designed lines of furniture such as the Babe Series seating, the Louise Series cabinetry, the Cardin Series tables and the hand-carved Distinctive Harmony Collection.

Designing custom furniture comes with unique challenges and at Durante Furniture, we use our in-depth knowledge and experience to develop solutions that ensure longevity and value in every piece we manufacture.
Quality, comfort, and integrity are the principles that drive every decision we make and our facility ensures we can deliver on these promises. Located in Vancouver, B.C., with over 20,000 square feet of production space, the following processes are proudly controlled in-house: Design Development, Custom Veneering, Cabinetry, Finishing and Upholstery.
All employees within their respective divisions are professionals holding trade certification or a lengthy history in furniture craftsmanship. Each employee carries the Durante Furniture tradition - unsurpassed quality.
